Health and Wellbeing Books
Our new Health and Wellbeing collection of books will be launched in the next few weeks. Just to remind you, the collection is available to ALL staff and covers a range of subjects e.g. health and lifestyle, self-help, leisure pursuits, local walks, healthy eating, recipes and gardening, sport etc. We have also purchased a diverse range of fiction books which we hope will appeal to all tastes. The full range of titles will soon be sent out on the Trust email and be available by clicking on ‘Subject Books Lists’ on the left of this page.
Quick Reads and the Six Book Challenge
Incorporated within the Health and Wellbeing Books we have a collection of Quick Reads. These are short, sharp books (mainly fiction) written by bestselling writers and celebrities. They are intended to appeal to busy people who may be out of the habit of reading or for people who have yet to develop confidence in choosing and reading books for enjoyment. Tied in with this is the Six Book Challenge, a national initiative in which we are taking part. We will officially launch the scheme in the next few weeks and communicate it to all staff. In the meantime, to find out more and to see if you would like to be involved, please contact the library or click here and if you would like to take up this challenge please contact us.
Keeping Up To Date
We have recently created a new page on our website listing various freely available alerting services designed to help you keep up to date with the latest evidence and news in your speciality.
To access this resource, click on the ‘How to keep up to date’ on the right of this page.
Athens and Electronic Journal Access
An Athens account is the means by which you can access all the electronic journals and databases which the ERC Library and the NHS have subscribed to. In order to make full use of your Athens account and discover the range of resources you can access, we have created a PowerPoint presentation which can be seen by clicking on the Athens registration link at the top of this page.
Almost all the e-journals you can access via our website require an Athens login. However there are some exceptions that require a separate username and password, The journals are: American Journal of Roentgenology, Chest, Dysphagia, European Respiratory Journal, JBJS (British), Radiology and Respiratory Care. For the passwords to these journals please contact us or visit the ERC Library’s intranet page and click on’ Electronic Login Details’ on the left side of the page.
